Currently, I have three home screens on my cellphone. The wallpapers to these individual screens are as follows: first – my 5 year old son, second – my 4 year old daughter and then lastly, a picture of the adorable couple that is Forwood shown above.

The instant that I noticed their budding romance, my heart leapt for joy. And like most Forwood fans out there, I actually can’t pinpoint the exact reason for my support. But every single time that they have a scene together (whether they’re passionately kissing or helping each other out), I can’t help but finding myself going “Awww…” (in my sing-song voice – of course). Truth be told, I’m actually the only one amongst my group of friends that has this appreciation for this couple. (Weird, I know. I don’t know what’s wrong with them.)

So, in an attempt to put some things into perspective, I am going to try to explain, nay, convince all y’all out there why Caroline Forbes belongs with Tyler Lockwood forever and always, Amen.

Just look at these young lovers…Awwww…

Ultimately, I think that there is just a little something about the good guy that gets the girl. In fact, if one were to put it that way, there is probably an even bigger something for the once bad guy that turns good, that then eventually gets the girl. And we’ve seen it on screen many times before. (A really good example of this that comes to mind is Alex Pettyfer’s character in Beastly.)

For Tyler, the character transformation from high school douche-bag to thoughtful, kind-natured soul was undeniably refreshing. (Remember when he kept a heartbroken Caroline company with a cuddle session after Matt ended their relationship?) Whether it was the process of his werewolf transformation that made him change his ways, or the lovely lass by his side who stayed with him during even the most perilous times in the cold dark cave (Caroline Forbes) — I feel that the recipe for their awesome pairing is thanks to a generous helping of chemistry, a dash of circumstance and a handful of some shared perspective.

Some people argue that it’s the effect that Caroline has on other characters. That she automatically brings out the best in them, as opposed to them having stellar personalities all on their own.

During season three, Tyler embarked on a journey to break the sire bond between himself and Klaus to prove his love for his girl. It was during this time of peril and his decision to break that bond that was most commendable. I mean, this was no walk in the park. It involved doing the one thing that being a hybrid would solve – turning at will. Ironic isn’t it. And not just once. Over and over and over again. When you are witness to this level of sacrifice, there’s no way denying that his feelings for Caroline are genuine and true. Tyler really really really really really really really really loves her.  Awwwwww….

Now for a look at the competition…

Klaus (the bad…really bad guy)

‘And if you don’t do what I want, I’m going to kill everyone you’ve ever loved! Blah blah blah blah blah…’

Point number one. Klaus is a psychopath. Should I leave it there and say ‘enough said’?

Realistically though, if you’re a reasonable person with a tendency to generally lean towards the slightest notion of stability, then it should be an impossibility to support this relationship.

Klaus is impulsive. Klaus is a menace. And most importantly, Klaus is dangerous. Klaus is dangerous in vampire terms, so that’s, you know…pretty dangerous. But hey, if dysfunction is the name of your game, then by all means. I hear therapy comes around pretty cheap nowadays.

Matt (the really… really good guy)

So wholesome…

Urgh. Matt.

Matt is a really great guy and what he and Caroline had was great. But that was all it was. Their relationship was merely a sequence of events that paved the way for an even greater romance – Forwood.

Matt is like the ultimate goodie goodie. And although that is something to be admired, this one dimensional character in all his goodness, leaves the character lacking in the catergory of both ‘interesting’ and ‘intriguing’.

Our Carebear needs more. Sorry Matt.

So I think that we can now all agree that on a scale of boring to pathologically insane, our boys Matt and Klaus both score top points.

Stefan (The Friend Zone)

I don’t really think that I have to present much argument when it comes to what Stefan and Caroline share. I don’t see anything more than a purely plutonic relationship. To even consider Stefan as a potential love interest for the lovely Caroline at this point in the series borders on the incestuous. Besides, even Julie Plec mentioned in previous interviews that Caroline is now to Stefan, what Lexie once was.

Oh and one more point that might be a dealbreaker – Caroline is one of Elena’s BFFs. Let’s not get awkward.

Swoon!

Time to conclude? No person is better suited for our Caroline than Tyler. She’s the sweetheart that we’ve all come to love and appreciate and we’d like to see her with someone who compliments her personality in as many ways as possible. Tyler is that guy. That is all. Let’s not send her into the lion’s den. We love our Vampire Barbie way too much!
