Happy Election Day, fang fans!

Who’s ready to get their vote on? We definitely are and so are the stars of The Vampire Diaries. Regardless of who you support — whether it be Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, or another candidate of your choosing — the important thing is that on November 6, 2012 you exercise your right as a citizen to help elect a future U.S. president who encompasses all the values and beliefs that you feel a leader in executive office should posses.

And, in the spirit of what is turning out to be one of the most crucial political events in U.S. history, the patriotic and passionate TVD cast members — including Ian Somerhalder, Matt Davis, Torrey DeVitto, Kat Graham, Todd Williams, and Nina Dobrev –  are taking to Twitter to remind their friends and followers that every vote counts.

Enjoy their inspirational photos, letters, and messages in the gallery below, and then tell us if you’re planning on voting in the comments!

Matt Davis Expresses His Views in A Letter

Dear @BarackObama & @MittRomney,

You both have shown remarkable endurance and devotion to your beliefs sharpened by a discipline that is superhuman. I must commend you both for your grit. Say what you will about each others politics, you both have fought hard and given each other a solid run for their money. I can only imagine the nervous energy you both must be feeling this evening before one of the most important elections in American history. Whatever tomorrow brings, may the best man win fair and square. Whatever tomorrow brings, may we put ideology behind us and do what is best for all Americans and by extension the rest of the world. With this in mind, let us not forget America is a country built on the blood, sweat, and tears of immigrants from all around this remarkable planet. Therefore, America is a global project. We have an obligation, and an opportunity once again to be that shinning city on the hill that sets the standard for human decency, and equality. So whoever shall win tomorrow, be it fair, may we come together and unite for the good of all humankind....

May All Beings be Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, and Free.
