Stefan Salvatore seems like such a wonderful boyfriend. He’s always rescuing his lady and her monster pals, he loses control (in a hot way) whenever someone he loves is in danger, he can bust out a move or two (as witnessed at the “Unpleasantville” decade dance), and he’s got a great set of hair. However, we have a major bone to pick with him—what’s up with him gifting Elena another girl’s necklace?! (Technically, he didn’t remember where he got it from but let’s view it from Elena’s perspective–because she isn’t aware of the whole “Klaus compelling Stefan” ordeal.)
In “The End of the Affair,” it was revealed that the vervain-soaked necklace Stefan gave to Elena in season 1 belongs to…dun dun dun… an Original! (More specifically, it belongs to Klaus’s sister Rebekah aka Stefan’s beautiful ex). Clearly, the heirloom necklace is one of Elena’s most prized possessions because she wears it with so much pride and she grows super upset whenever she loses it.
But if Mystic Fall’s brown-eyed doppelganger ever found out that the necklace actually belongs to Stefan’s ex-girlfriend and is basically recycled jewelry, would she shrug it off or feel betrayed? Vote below!

If we remember back to season one when he gave it to her the necklace was not a gift exactly. It was protection from Damon and the only vervaine he thought existed in Mystic Falls (this was before Zach revealed his garden!).

We do know this (we watch each ep before it airs, during the live tweets and then afterward). This post is just for fun because we thought ‘what if’. Hope that clears it up
It is tacky, but Stefan had been compelled to forget so he is not to blame. Elena would understand.

Elena definetely will not be happy to find out that “her necklace” isn’t really hers. But Stefan couldnt have known when he gave Elena the necklace about the deeper meaning behind why he had it since he had been compelled to forget all about Rebecca. She’ll be mad since she doesnt know he was compelled, but at least she has Damon around to give her something new… <3 Delena

@homakp You’ve got a point! I apologize to everyone…I meant for the post to take the perspective of Elena who doesn’t know any of this…just knowing her how would she react and how would people react in general. Poor Stefan. Klaus is really wearing him out!
i would be mad at first. BUT then you have to understand he DIDN’T know until Klaus un-compelled him. <3 Im not a Stelena fan but what if it was Damon who gave her the necklace and who had been compelled not to remember. We would all feel sympathy then soo i have to say i wouldn't be TOO mad
