If we didn’t know any better, we’d think the powers-that-be over at The CW were hardcore soap opera fans. How so? Because all the shirtless hunks from shows such as Devious Maids and Mistresses mysteriously keep making their way over to the channel of hotties galore. First there was Mistresses cast member Ricky Whittle, who made his mark as a sexy Grounder named Lincoln on the dystopian series, The 100. And now, the talented Colin Woodell is bidding adieu to life as Beverly Hills pool boy Ethan Sinclair to move into a rickety shack along the bayou. Yep that’s right — he’s sinking his teeth into a juicy new supernatural role on The Originals!
According to TVLine, who exclusively revealed the news earlier today, the Devious Maids star is set to appear in the second season of the dark and gritty Vampire Diaries spin-off. And apparently he’s joining the baddest pack around: the studly-yet-menacing pack of local werewolves! Colin’s character, Aiden, who will be making his debut appearance in OG episode 2×04, “isn’t opposed to teaming up with the witches if they can help take down vampires and keep his family safe.”
Moreover, not only does Aiden serve as a lieutenant in New Orleans’s rapidly growing were-army, but viewers will also get to see this stud form some pretty “dangerous alliances.” With whom exactly: Davina, Klaus, or some other sort of mega mischief-rouser? We’ll find out soon enough, sweethearts, but Charles Michael Davis’s latest tweet might be a tell-tale sign. “
On set with @ColinWoodell @ChaseRColeman and @NishiMoonshine,” the actor, who plays Marcel Gerard, recently posted along with an image of the fellas hanging out on set, — perhaps suggesting they were working on a scene together. Interesting.
Time to spill, fang fans: What do you think of this recent casting news? Do you approve? Sound off in the comments and be sure to follow Colin’s official twitter account at @colinwoodell!
Mark your calendars because The Originals is moving to a new time slot — Monday nights at 8/7c on The CW, starting October 6th!
