Would you consider Elijah Mikaelson’s intentions honorable? Sure, the handsome Original vampire went back on his promise to kill Klaus in the penultimate episode of The Vampire Diaries Season 2, but we can’t really hold his change of heart against him considering how Klaus is his brother. (Believe it or not, even in Mystic Falls it’s not easy to murder your own sibling. Just ask Damon and Stefan Salvatore!) However, he’s proven more than once throughout Season 3 that Elena Gilbert and her friends could trust him so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt even if he does have fangs.
So what’s next for Elijah on the fourth season of the hit CW series? Watch as Daniel Gillies — the man behind TVD’s best-tressed character — gives some personal insight:
“Yea, Elijah will definitely be back. I mean, I think as long as there are vampires on the show that Elijah will be back. He seems pretty indestructible at this point. With four deaths on [his] belt I think [my character] is pretty much bullet proof at this point.
“I literally will read twitter sometimes and think [that] the fans of the show are the most amazing fans of all time. There’s so much mythology. In one given episode of the show, there’s more information transmitted than in all of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.”
“I have no idea know why Elijah resonates with people. I’d like to claim the credit for that but I have no idea. I think it’s just that they wrote something cool and I just was lucky enough to be able to play it.”
