Because we’re rooting for Ian Somerhalder to land the sexy, domineering lead role of Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, we’ve been keeping tabs on E. L. James’ trilogy. From casting news to reader tweets, we’re eager to learn more about this erotic phenomenon — so you can imagine how excited we were to learn that a composite sketch of the handsome billionaire, featuring the hottest assets of famous men, was circulating around the web. That is, until we took a look at it and noticed that it looked nothing like Mister Smolderhalder…it resembled a younger Val Kilmer and even Ian’s Vampire Diaries bromance partner Matt Davis! Take a look:

Although the two photos are not identical by any means, we see the similarities (especially in the hair) and can totally imagine Matt Davis taking the reigns over this bad boy fantasy figure (and Anastasia Steele). He’s portrayed a rich guy in Legally Blonde and Blue Crush, and he’s played a vulnerable vampire hunter with an alter ego in The Vampire Diaries. Moreover, he’s been known to post saucy thoughts on twitter and even dabbles in erotic TVD fan fiction of his own over on his tumblr entitled “Ernesto’s Starship,” so a NC-17 movie (or X-rated depending on what sorts of racy scenes are shown on the big-screen) wouldn’t pose too much of a problem for him. (Plus, he’s incredibly talented and good-looking…so there’s that.)
