Despite a hectic filming schedule, the cast of The Vampire Diaries makes time to tune in to the 2012 London Olympics to catch all the spectacular events, and to support the talented, hard-working athletes who have risen to victory at the games. However, just like us humble viewers, they can’t help but have a few favorites…the apple of their eyes being of course gold medalist, Gabby Douglas, who lists TVD as her favorite show and Ian Somerhalder as her favorite actor.

Just a few days ago, in a heartfelt gesture, Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Claire Holt, and Michael Trevino teamed up to send the U.S. gymnast encouraging words and to let her know they are huge fans of hers. Nevertheless, Gabby had been busy focusing on the games and participating in a plethora of champion events, including the high bars and balance beam, to realize that the stars of her beloved supernatural series sent her a message. Well, let’s just say that upon completing her Olympic performances, the bright-eyed gymnast not only walked away with two medals but she also received the surprise of the lifetime that left her beaming with joy.

We love how her family react to the video as well — they are swooning all over the place and who could blame them?! (Her mom even says, “I don’t think she will be ever be able to watch that show again without jumping and down — literally!”) Moreover, not only does Gabby now have two Olympic medals to her name and an upcoming visit to the set (just like Kelly Clarkson did) as a special ET correspondent, but she can now also boast that Mr. Smolderhalder blew her a kiss (which she caught and saved for years to come). How can one young girl be so darn lucky? Sigh.
