The 2012 summer Olympics are long from over but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten all the glorious moments, ceremonial highlights, and steamy glimpses of Ryan Lochte’s abs. Moreover, we sure as hell have not forgotten about our favorite gal, Gabrielle Douglas, who is the epitome of a true champion and encompasses all the qualities we adore in an Olympic gold medalist — hard-working, adorable, and above all else a The Vampire Diaries fang fan. Well, it just so happens that dreams do come true because Gabby happens to be on on set today (September 19) getting initiated into the Mystic Falls family by none other than her favorite actress Nina Dobrev and ultimate crush Ian Somerhalder!
In August 2012, Gabby Douglas revealed that The Vampire Diaries is her most beloved television series and the rest is history. Not only did Julie Plec and Nina strike up a friendship with the bright-smiled gymnast over twitter but additionally the whole TVD cast — including Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Claire Holt, and Michael Trevino — recorded a video message for her. Most exciting of all? Gabby is hitting up the Season 4 set as a special correspondent for Extra….and making a cameo (confirmed!) on an episode as well! This is hilarious considering Gabby proclaimed to the world that she has a crush on Ian, but Nina is not jealous, right? She can handle an Olympic gold medalist being her competition, it’s all good.
