Much like our beloved Vampire Diaries TV show, The Hunger Games is one of our hardcore addictions. It really narrows in on basic survival instincts, standing up for what you believe in, and looking fear straight in the eye. So you can only imagine how excited we were watch the latest sneak peek clip from the upcoming, highly anticipated film!
The clip depicts the scene during which the host of the Hunger Games — Caesar Flickerman — is interviewing each of the district tributes and finally sits down for a chat with District 12 Tribute Peeta Mellark. Caesar asks him if he has a special someone back home and Peeta hesitates then says no. After some persistence on Caesar’s behalf, Peeta ultimately reveals that the person he’s had a crush on since he was a young boy is actually the same girl he has to kill off during the games if he wants to live…in other words, Katniss Everdeen. Witness the agonizing moment below!
Peeta is not just claiming to have fallen for Katniss for the mere amusement of the reality tv-show obsessed folks of Panem — he’s actually been in love with her since they were in kindergarten. And the only reason he reveals his truth feelings is to make her appear more desirable…which in turn means she’ll receive better sponsorships during the games and that alone ups her rate of survival ten-fold!
A man willing to sacrifice everything — including his life — for his one and only? Sounds like two other valiant characters we’re obsessed with…Damon and Stefan Salvatore! Both brothers are so enamored with Elena Gilbert that they’d do anything for her — even take a stake through the heart and fight off powerful and frightening monsters just to keep her safe!
