Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham Attend The 2012 Environmental Media Awards

Ian Somerhalder is a man of many talents, and although we love him best as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, we certainly admire his non-stop efforts to promote positive change around the world just as much. Despite a hectic filming schedule, Ian always finds time to provide a voice for abused animals or to help raise awareness for environmental causes — he’s caring, passionate, and influential which is why he is more than deserving of the recent honor he was handed at the 2012 Environmental Awards!

On Saturday September 29, 2012, the actor joined TVD cast mate Kat Graham and fellow celebrity conservationists such as Jessica Alba (who founded the eco-friendly baby firm The Honor Company), at the Warner Brothers Studio  in Burbank, California for the prestigious event (which is described as “the only program singularly devoted to celebrating the entertainment industry’s creative environmental efforts”). And in recognition of his incredible work through the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) and dedicate to protecting eco-systems and furry creatures, he received the Futures Award.

Ian even took to Twitter to describe his excitement about the green event, “Proud to be honored alongside @jessicaalba, Elon Musk & Kelly Meyer at the Environmental Media Awards (#2012EMA ).”
