The last time we saw Bonnie Bennett, she was busy being in cahoots with Klaus. Mystic Falls’ fiercest witch and deadliest hybrid reached a simple agreement in The Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale, “The Departed” — the gist of being that Bonnie performed a body switching spell between Klaus and Tyler Lockwood in order to save her mother as well as her friends who were linked to the Original’s bloodline. Here’s a quick rundown of that shocking twist:
Klaus (as Tyler): I must say, you really did that spell brilliantly. I didn’t think you had it in you.
Bonnie: I did it to save my friends and my mother, Klaus. Not you.
Klaus (as Tyler): The spirits aren’t going to be happy with you.
Bonnie: The spirits don’t get to tell me what to do anymore.
So what’s in store for Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries Season 4 now that she’s made a deal with the devil? Well, for starters, she’s done getting pushed around by everyone — girlfriend’s standing tall and proud! Second, she’s going to be embracing her immense powers and exploring them further. Third, she’s going to tiptoe into dark, uncharted territory in terms of her abilities that will may or may not produce some interesting repercussions. “She’s tampered in a little bit of a different kind of magic when it came to bringing Jeremy back, so she’s really kind of put herself on the edge in terms of what she’s supposed to be doing and really kind of hitting a lot of boundaries that she shouldn’t be stepping over or even looking at.”
“You will see I think a bit of a different edge to her. You first saw the edge when she lost her grandmother in season 1 and then you saw a bit more of how [far] she’s willing to go when it came to her own death in Season 2. And then in Season 3 making the deal with Klaus. You’ll get to see [that] it’s kind of grown and the chances and mistakes have become absolutely bigger for the characters. So, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
