As intense and dark as The Vampire Diaries TV series tends to get, it’s hard to forget the simpler days — when most Mystic Falls residents didn’t know what went bump in the night and Elena Gilbert was a quiet girl scribbling away in her diary about events and people other than Damon and Stefan Salvatore. Back then, the only hell was high school (metaphorically speaking of course). Back then, the only stresses in life were brought upon by homework and not knowing what to wear to the dance. Back then, being young, frivolous and carefree was the name of the game. Hybrids, witches, and Originals were nowhere to be seen, and death was not rampant nor was it malicious and cruel. Who would have ever thought, looking back on all the unsettling supernatural mayhem that’s taken place on three seasons of The Vampire Diaries, that our beloved characters would end up in such states of heartache, danger, and suffering?
In fact, all Elena had to worry about — prior to discovering that she’s actually a rare doppelganger with magical blood — was forcing a bright smile whenever her friends asked her if she was okay, looking out for her impressionable brother Jeremy, and trying to heal after losing her parents, Miranda and Grayson, to a tragic car accident. Well, it seems like the TVD creative team is feeling nostalgic because they’re taking viewers down Mystic Falls memory lane on The Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale, “The Departed.”
So what’s in store for Elena, Jeremy, Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, Tyler and The Salvatore brothers, now that they’ve got Klaus and Alaric to defeat? Here’s a synopsis for the ever-so-poignant Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 22:
THE SECRET HERO — Determined to protect his sister, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) makes a decision that will change everything. In the harsh reality of the present situation, Elena (Nina Dobrev) longs for simpler times when her parents, Grayson (guest star Jason MacDonald) and Miranda (guest star Erin Beute), and Aunt Jenna (guest star Sara Canning) were still alive and her biggest concern was her relationship with Matt (Zach Roerig). Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) leave Mystic Falls together on a mission, but soon split up when Elena needs one of them. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) are forced to make a life-changing decision. Finally, Bonnie (Kat Graham) makes a secret deal that has heartbreaking consequences. John Behring directed the episode with story by Brett Matthews & Elisabeth R. Finch and teleplay by Julie Plec (#322).

What are you looking forward to most in “The Departed”? What do you make of all these TVD flashbacks in the finale episode? Post your predictions in the comments below and discuss Vampire Diaries Season 3 spoilers in greater length in the viewers lounge!
I saw the pics and I’m really disapointed. I cant believe that Elena is still thinking reconciliate with Stefan. In picture 10 they are too closed. And I saw Damon’s face in picture 16 that don’t gives me a good feeling.
About flashbacks I really hope that Stefan had something to do with that accident or maybe Damon is the real hero( Synopsis: The Secret Hero), and this is very possible maybe Jeremy will talk with his parents(Synopsis:Determined to protect his sister, Jeremy makes a decision that will change everything.)
I really really hope that Elena will choose Damon, otherwise I don’t know if I will watch TVD anymore, and I think I wont be alone, maybe this is how writers will understand that they need to give us some Delena too otherwise they will lose many fans.
DELENA FOREVER!!!
@Arwen1, I couldn’t agree more with everything you’ve said. I am going to be wearily concerned with what these flashbacks will mean to Elena’s choice. I hadn’t even considered that Jeremy might talk to his parents, but it sounds very possible.
Now, that last picture of Damon answering his cell, is it just me or does he look overly pensive, sad, and upset all at once? Damon’s expression has me worried! If Elena rejects him again, Damon will be heartbroken and miserable. I wouldn’t blame him because after that heartstopping kiss Elena would be worse than Katherine!
So, I hope Delena happens in the beautiful way we Delenians want or else- I’m going to scream bloody murder! I cannot tolerate more Stelena moments in the next season! Delena has to be endgame!
Delena forever, Amen!!!!
