Remember when Julie Plec revealed earlier this year that Bonnie Bennett’s father was going to make an appearance on Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries? Fans immediately flocked to Twitter and Facebook to recommend their favorite actors for the coveted role. (Confession: We even dabbled in the dream casting fun ourselves.) Well, the long wait is over — the part of Rudy Hopkins has been cast and the lucky actor is none other than Rick Worthy!

If Rick looks familiar, that’s because he’s bared fangs as the Alpha Vampire on Supernatural and he just happens to be a Star Trek: Enterprise veteran. (Insert fangirl/fanboy gleeful shriek!) Moreover, he’s made appearances on Heroes, Castle, and Battlestar Galactica as well. And, for all you Paul Wesley fans out there, you’ll be pleased to know that he and the man behind Stefan Salvatore go way back — they costarred in the amazing television series Fallen! (FYI: Paul played Aaron Corbett and Rick played Camael.)
Rick will be making his Mystic Falls debut on the first episode after holiday break aka episode 4.10, which is titled “After School Special.” So far, not much is known about Bonnie’s estranged father other than that he wasn’t too fond of Bon-Bon spending time with her Grams, and that he didn’t care to know about her involvement with witchcraft. However, it appears as though he’s going to rise to the occasion in Season 4 to protect his young daughter from all the perils of Mystic Falls.
