Season 4 Characters: Dream Casting Alexander the Vampire Hunter

Season four of The Vampire Diaries will be a momentous one — full of riveting storylines, crazy supernatural drama, and new characters. And, according to E! Online, viewers will be meeting yet another vampire hunter. First there was Alaric Saltzman, then there was Mikael Mikaelsen and now there’s two ruthless slayers scheduled to appear on the show — Connor (played by Todd Williams) and Alexander!

Alexander will appear in the first flashback episode of TVD season 4 — in which the show will journey back to the 1100s to highlight the reasons behind Rebekah’s fragile psyche. Moreover, although vicious, Alexander is described as “rugged, handsome and charismatic” (much like everyone else in Mystic Falls)…and in going after Bex, he’s going to develop feelings for her and find himself making the blonde Original vixen weak at the knees!

So who will be portraying this sexy vampire slayer? No one’s been cast yet, but here’s a list of actors who fit the physical demands of such a role!

Viggo Mortensen

The epitome of a rugged man. Have you seen him battling brute forces in the Lord of The Rings series?! As King Aragorn, he wooed us with his courage and excellent sword-fighting prowess. Plus, even with sweat, blood, and sweat smeared all over his face, he still rocked our world (and probably Frodo's) so we know he'd make a fitting Alexander. (Sigh. A geek can dream...)

Kyle Schmid

He's played a vampire already in the Lifetime series Blood Ties and Syfy show Being Human so we think it'd be a nice change in pace for him to be the one not on the pointy end of the stick. He's got the long, thick warrior locks down as well as the mesmerizing eyes, and he's go the bad boy vibe down pat. So would he rock the role of Alexander? Hell to the yes!

Alex O'Loughlin

Hawaii Five-). The Shield. Criminal Minds. This Aussie hottie has no fear of larger-than-life action scenes so he'd definitely deliver as a fang staker. (Also, his voice is deep and dreamy. We can listen to it all day long.)

Chris Hemsworth

Liam's handsome brother not only played Thor in The Avengers but he also got down with his bad self as a drunken huntsman and Snow White's protector. A proper vampire slayer should be able to wield an ax with ease and, judging by Chris' broad shoulders and ample muscles, we have a feeling all vamps would cower in his presence!

Josh Holloway

One word: Sawyer. This handsome devil charmed the pants off of Freckles (literally) in the Lost series, and when push came to shove he was more than ready to face danger right in the eyes. He can take a beating really well (cue Lost Season 2 cage scene) and he's the epitome of bronzed island badassery. May the Island send him our way.

Christian Kane

Remember him as sometimes-evil-sometimes-compassionate Wolfram & Hart lawyer Lindsey McDonald on Angel? He had plenty of wit and ambition (not to mention good looks) -- plus, he kicked major ass in the fifth season when he got all tatted up and went after Angel himself. We definitely think he has enough vamp-fighting mojo to step into the leather boots of a ruthless slayer!

Eduardo Noriega

Born in Cantabria, Spain, Eduardo caught the acting bug while attending the University of Santander and the rest is history. Not only is this sexy stud fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Catalan, but he also a world traveler and was even cast to play Che Guevara in Josh Evans' movie. Dashing looks aside, the guy's got plenty of talent so he'll be able to capture the emotional depth of "love 'em and stake 'em" scenes. Moreover, we feel that Mystic Falls could always use a tall, dark and handsome vampire hunter, right? Right.

Henry Cavill

Rugged? Check. Handsome? Check. Swoonworthy accent? Check. Ability to pull off billowy white shirts? Check! The newest "Man of Steel" in the Superman franchise would make a nice addition to TVD's set, don't ya think? Hot damn!

Javier Bardem

Let's just get to the point -- this talented guy positively teems with sex appeal. Oh -- and he can handle large, complicated weapons with great ease (as we learned while watching No Country for Old Men) which is a skill any qualified vampire hunter should have!

Jack Huston

This British actor has dabbled in the supernatural before as Royce King in Eclipse and Jamie Dalton in Eastwick, so he'd fit right in with TVD. Moreover, he plays a hardcore gangster in HBO's Boardwalk Empire which means he's not scared of getting his hands early -- even if it means driving stakes right through some bloodsucking fiends!

Joe Lara

First of all, Joe's a pro -- he's starred i over twenty films. Second, he rocks long hair which we feel a man alive in he 1100s should be able to do. Third? He was cast not once but TWICE as Tarzan in various Hollywood productions which means he's totally cool with rocking some shirtless scenes and swooping in to save the day!
