Damon Salvatore has undergone a serious transition throughout the last three seasons of The Vampire Diaries. He’s gone from a bloodthirsty villain who experienced no qualms about abusing high school girls or snapping the necks of football coaches, to a compassionate protagonist willing to bring his younger brother from a very dark place and put his life on the line for the love of his life (Elena Gilbert). Well brace yourselves, gentle viewers, because that’s all about to change in Season 4. No longer will Damon be an enamored good-doer who’s all about sacrifices and doing the right thing — instead he’s reverting back to the old days when being a sexy, bad playboy was the name of the game!

Ausiello: Julie Plec is resurrecting original flavor Damon this season. “This year, Damon is the Damon of Season 1, minus the posturing and posing,” she promises. “He just is. He is who he is. He’s got attitude. He’s always right. He’s rarely wrong. He might do the wrong thing, but he’s always the one who’s like, “I told you guys. You should have listened to me.” So this year is going to be very much about, ‘You don’t like me. You want to judge me. You don’t like who I am, how I do things? Well, screw you.’ It’s going to be a great shift for him… He’s still going to be the Damon we know and love — he’s still going to be kicking ass and taking names. But he just has this devil may care attitude about it. He’s just not going to change for anybody anymore. He did that. That’s over. That’s so last year.”
Ahh! Although “evil” Damon was kind of creepy at times and didn’t think twice about claiming lives, we can’t wait to see him re-embrace a life of sass, blood, and decadence! Hopefully this news means that not only will viewers get to enjoy even more hilarious Damon quotes but also additional dancing scenes!

I have mixed emotions about Damon returning to his old ways. On the one hand, Damon as a sexy badass is exciting and I can’t wait for his biting,hilariously delivered one-liners. But, I will miss the sensitive, loving man he had evolved into. Going back to a total badass Damon feels like a step back from his obvious evolution towards good of the past two seasons! Anyways, I love Damon no matter what he does!

The idea of Damon being the good guy was a good one, although, with all those leather jackets, I suppose all of the female viewers wishing he’d be Elena’s dream boat were being a bit unrealistic. Regardless, Delena all the way.

I do think, though, it’s unfair to Damon that he changed so much for the girl, and she just keeps going back to Stefan over and over again even after S tried to drain her dry of all blood.
If I were her, I’d kick Stefan and go have some real “fun” with the “evil” brother.
I also think, Damon had become a bit “weak”, a.k.a. more emotional, and that didn’t really suit him. Good for the character that he’s becoming bad again. He’d be much stronger.
