Spoiler Alert: Please do not watch the following clip from The Vampire Diaries Season 4 premiere if you do not wish to know any details about the episode beforehand!
As we witnessed in the first “Growing Pains” sneak peek — the one in which Elena Gilbert experiences a very rude awakening — Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore aren’t exactly chummy these days. (Granted, they haven’t always been the best of friends but at least they respected and helped each other out when perilous situations arose.) Damon’s blaming Stefan for Elena’s death and Stefan’s taking that to heart and beating himself up over honoring Elena’s wishes to save Matt Donovan first during that heartbreaking Wickery Bridge scene from the Season 3 finale. Watch as the Salvatores face off as they disagree about a matter concerning Elena’s transition into a vampire:

In the event you’re unable to view the video, here’s their conversation word for word!
Damon: Way to get her hopes up for something that’s never happened in the history of vampires.
Stefan: You know what? You weren’t there when Elena looked me in the eye and she absolutely never wanted this.
Damon: Then you shouldn’t have let her die.
Stefan: I never meant for her to die. She asked me to help Matt first and I did.
Damon: And now the world has one more quarterback. Bravo brother.
Stefan: I made a choice that I will regret for the rest of my life. Now let me try to fix it.
So tell us, gentle viewers: Which Salvatore brother do you think has the better argument? Is Stefan truly to blame for what happened to Elena under Wickery Bridge?
