The Vampire Diaries Season 4 premieres on Thursday October 11 and all the cast members are out and about dropping clues about all the jaw-dropping, crazy events viewers will bear witness to once the new season kicks off. First up? Nina Dobrev! The gorgeous actress (wearing a daylight ring) talks about Elena Gilbert’s unhinged personality, on which Salvatore brother she’ll go to for guidance, and how her heartbreaking transition will affect the relationship dynamic with her long-term Mystic Falls friends. Check out TVGuide.com’s interview below:
In the event you’re unable to watch the video interview, here’s what Nina Dobrev revealed!
On Being Untamed: “Elena’s going to be very unpredictable. She used to be the solid rock. She used to be so dependable. Now she’s going to be kind of all over the place.
On How Everyone Will React: [They're] going to be a little confused by her actions and surprised. I think everyone’s going to be surprised by what she does.
On Choosing Salvatores: “What people will be surprised about is that, yes, she’ll lean on Damon, but she’s also going to be leaning on Stefan.” Nina adds “It’s almost like the triangle has been reinstated because at the beginning, there were different qualities she liked about them as a vampire and [now] there are different things she needs from each of them.”
On The Blood Diet: “As a vampire, there are different things that she needs from [Stefan and Damon]. Damon very much believes that you should drink from the vein — drink from humans — and Stefan wants her to go on the bunny diet. And so, depending on what she’s feeling and what she needs to do at the time, she goes to each of them. It’s kind of like with your parents — using mom against dad. One is going to be more lenient with certain things and the other is going to spoil you in other ways. So [Elena's] kind of taking advantage of that.”
On Her Friendships: “I think it’s going to put a strain on every relationship that Elena has with everyone on the show because they’re all conflicted — they’ve spent the last three seasons fighting for her and trying to keep her human and safe. And now she is what they all feared. It’s happened and she’s a vampire now. And Bonnie’s going to help out in every way that she can but it’s kind of in her blood and in her history to not like vampires but Elena can’t do anything about it. And, I mean, she does not even like the person that she’s becoming at all — she hates it.”
So tell us: If you were Bonnie Bennett — a witch who has been the victim of so much supernatural drama throughout the past three seasons of The Vampire Diaries — would you be able to maintain a friendship with your childhood best friend who unfortunately has become the very creature you loathe?
well, frienship is very strong and important in this show, but i think it’s gonna be hard for bonnie to preserve her link with elena. She lost so much because of her, indirectly. but she finally accept caroline just the way she is so maybe she’ll find a way to handle it.
