If you’re worried about how you’re going to survive the next ten days until Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries kicks off on October 11, 2012, do not worry whatsoever! Our friends over at TV Guide have just posted the cold opening that will be aired (in various forms) before each new episode of the fourth season to catch viewers up on important storylines.
The fresh opening includes narrations from Elena Gilbert, Damon Salvatore, Stefan Salvatore, Jeremy Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett and Klaus. (Oh! And even Matt Davis makes a cameo as Alaric via Season 3 scenes.) The characters talk about Mystic Falls — how they were born there and how it’s the only home they’ve ever known — and then they go on to cover the town’s history with doppelgangers, werewolves, vampires, witches, and hybrids. A montage then shows all the friends gained, enemies made, and loved ones lost. Additionally, Elena utters the most chilling line of the entire video: “And then there’s me. I’m human — at least I was.” Watch the riveting opening below:
We’re not sure what Elena means by “and then there’s me.” Could this be a clue that she might transform into supernatural force that’s different than anyone has ever seen — an entirely unique new species? Or are we reading too far into a simple line? What do you think? Post your thoughts in the comments!
