How excited are fangs fans that Phoebe Tonkin will be joining the fourth season of The Vampire Diaries? Let’s just say they are more thrilled than Klaus was upon learned that Elena Gilbert’s doppelganger blood was the secret ingredient in his hybrid making process. All in all, the occult-loving community — especially Phoebe best friend and fellow Aussie actress, Claire Holt who plays Rebekah on TVD — is glad to see one of their favorite Secret Circle witches mosey on over to Mystic Falls!
However, there is one person who’s not thrilled at the news even in the slightest bit — Caroline Forbes! Why? Well, even though Caroline has no problem with Phoebe (not that she couldn’t considering how she’s a fictional character), she does have a bone to pick with Phoebe’s TVD character, Haley, who will be putting the moves on Vampire Barbie’s main wolf boy, Tyler Lockwood. So does that mean there will be tons of love triangle drama? You betcha! Here’s what Phoebe revealed on what’s going down this season:

Insider.com: What can you tell me about your character, Haley?
Phoebe: I like that she’s a world traveler, a bit of a tomboy, pretty ballsy and provocative. but not in the way Faye was on Secret Circle. I mean, she went out to manipulate and see what should could gain from people. Hayley just doesn’t have a filter. She didn’t really have parental figures in her life, and I like that kind of a person. I like that she’s tough and tries to keep up with the boys. That’s what I responded to when Julie [Plec, executive producer] first pitched the character to me.
Insider.com: And how has it been working with Candice Accola and Michael Trevino?
Phoebe: They’re so sweet. The majority of my scenes so far have been with them. They’re so professional and prepared and talent. I mean, it’s been so lovely on set the past couple of weeks with the two of them. The dynamic between the two of them is amazing, so working off that is really great.

PopSugar: Congratulations on scoring your role on The Vampire Diaries! What can you tell us about it?
Phoebe: I play Hayley, an old friend of Tyler’s, who is a werewolf. She has been travelling and has come to see her old friend. Which stirs up Tyler’s relationship with his girlfriend, Caroline.

PopSugar: What has been your biggest ‘pinch me’ moment? (Scoring a role, bumping into a massive celebrity?)
Phoebe: Getting the role on Secret Circle was pretty amazing. I had been out on a lot of pilot auditions, and Secret Circle was the last audition I had done. One moment I’m fretting about how much longer I can afford to stay living in LA, and then I was on a flight to Vancouver and started costume fittings the same day as I landed. At the time it felt like a long process, but in hindsight I was lucky that it wasn’t as long as I had expected to wait for a role.
