You’ve already glimpsed at the individual character promos for The Vampire Diaries Season 4. You’ve already seen the sneak peek pics for “Growing Pains,” “Memorial,” and “The Rager.” You’ve even watched the trailer for the first two episodes and a few juicy clips. Well, the CW is not done treating viewers to delicious previews just yet — because they’ve released a fresh batch of photos of Caroline (Candice Accola), Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and Tyler (Michael Trevino) striking fierce poses. While the characters look magnificent to say the least, the promos include haunting Latin inscriptions and some mysterious clues that hint at nothing but heartache and trouble. Check them all out below!
Amor Est Immolare
Translation: "Love is sacrifice."Caroline looks wild yet confident -- a defiant beauty ready to take on whatever hardships life throws at her. The chalice she's holding --which represents forgiveness of sin -- is overflowing with a substance that appears to be blood. (Or red wine if you're thinking in terms of religious significance.) It's eerie yet promising and indicates that Vampire Barbie's love is abundant. Well either that, or it could be hinting that Caroline is going to get super thirsty this season...
Although we're not 100% sure, it appears as though a tulip motif is being used here, and tulips are generally symbolic of perfect love, elegance, and simple joy.
Interestingly enough, the story about how tulips came to be has a very Mystic Falls sounding-origin: A prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself by riding his horse straight over the edge of a cliff. It's said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning "perfect love." Wow. Here's to hoping Caroline resists this sort of sacrifice because we heart her way too much!
Amor Habet Me
Translation: "Love possesses me."It appears as though the beetle is theme of Tyler's poster. And, considering how a beetle symbolizes rebirth and ingenuity, we'll take it! (We're guessing this links back to Tyler trying to reclaim control over his own body.) However, the sword motif worries us a bit ....but that's also depending on which end of the pointy stick Tyler finds himself in.
Sanguis Potestas Est
Translation:"Blood is power."A snake symbolizes various things. They symbolize vengefulness and vindictiveness since they strike without warning (rattlesnakes aside). Biblically speaking, the snake represents the first evil and the creature that tricked and seduced Eve into taking a bite of the red, round apple (a motif that also used in Klaus' portrait) in the Garden of Eden. Serpent symbolism also hints at danger considering how a snake's venom is poisonous and deadly. However, they do have positive connotations including rejuvenation (since they shed old skin and form new one) and healing powers (which is why medicine uses the image of two coiled snakes). What this says about Klaus, we're not sure but it sounds like the hybrid kind is going to return bigger and badder than ever before!

This really looks like an incredible episode! I can’t wait to see how Elena will escape from the cage, but I have a feeling that it will be without anyone’s help. I am also very curious about the new hunter in townS, a co-worker and I have been trying to figure out why he is targeting Elena. Though I am sure the council will have some part in pointing her out as a new vampire. I am counting the minutes until I get to watch this season!
