Daniel Gillies originally began working on The Vampire Diaries as Elijah Mikaelson, a character who was supposed to last only two episodes or so. However, with his honorable intentions and dapper demeanor (and suggested chemistry with Elena Gilbert), there’s no denying that the Original sibling hit it off with viewers right off the bat!

Currently, Daniel is starring in his own series on NBC entitled Saving Hope, but this doesn’t mean that his time in Mystic Falls is up quite yet! According to TVD actor Steven R. McQueen, Daniel actually joined the sultry cast for an important Season 4 promotional photoshoot — meaning that Elijah will be popping up when we least expect him to. And now that Elena’s transitioning into a vampire there’s no telling what his role in her life will be! Here’s the tweet:
