Jeremy Gilbert has experienced a great deal of development throughout three whole seasons of The Vampire Diaries. From annoying his aunt and sister and picking fights with Tyler Lockwood to getting high, sneaking girls into his room and failing school to being the good little (compelled) brother who fumbled his way into the world of big bads via a research paper — Jeremy’s seriously endured a hell of an emotional roller-coaster ride. However, although we appreciate him in all his various life stages (yes, even the self-destruction ones regardless of how painful it was to watch), our favorite ego of his was perhaps the valiant tough guy. (Um, remember how he retrieved a simple meat cleaver from his kitchen and hacked off a hybrid’s head? HOT DAMN!)
So what’s next for Jeremy in the upcoming fourth season of The Vampire Diaries? Well, according to what Steven R. McQueen hinted to FanBolt.com, his character will most likely resume his slayer training and get better acquainted with Katniss-approved weaponry:
“Family legacy’s been hunting. We take certain promo pictures, and the crossbow is present. I don’t know if those are the pictures that we’ll end up using, but I’m hoping so.”
He adds, “Again, the family legacy’s been hunting, so I’d love to see him pick up that crossbow more, and just fight back. He’s always been the guy with the big heart that keeps swinging, and keeps getting knocked down.”

It’s interesting that a crossbow is being added to the promotional photos — because it just means this season is going to be that much more deadly and intense!
