Currently on The Originals, Klaus Mikaelson and Marcel Gerard have reached a mutual agreement to cooperate with one another and rule the French Quarter side by side, just like any two power-hungry vampires would. However, come end of January, we have a feeling these two handsome fellows will be singing a different tune and experience the mother of all fall-outs.
According to the new synopsis for The Originals Season 1 Episode 12 — which is eerily titled “Dance Back from the Grave” — the show will be flashing back to 1919! So how’s that a bad thing exactly? The idea of Klaus and Marcel popping champagne, rocking suits, and living large right at the inception of the Jazz Age is definitely a check in our plus column. Nevertheless, when Marcel chose Klaus over Rebekah in “Reigning Pain in New Orleans,” a heart-broken Rebekah made the following cryptic remark: “When you were reliving history with my brother, did you happen to revisit what came next in 1919? Or have you forgotten our little secret? I know the words that will make him hate you forever. Remember that when you’re embracing your new “family”.” Let’s just say we have a hunch the evening isn’t going to end well…

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), still angered by recent events, refuses to help Klaus (Joseph Morgan) when a gruesome discovery is made in the Cauldron. Rebekah (Claire Holt) is on alert when she uncovers the remnants of a sacrifice down by the docks and immediately realizes that it’s the work of a dangerous warlock from their past. Meanwhile, when Elijah (Daniel Gillies) gets some information that Rebekah may be in trouble, he and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) set off to find her. At Rousseau’s, Cami (Leah Pipes) comforts Marcel, who opens up and shares some details of his past with her, but things quickly spiral out of control when an unexpected visitor shows up. Finally, a violent confrontation ensues when Klaus faces off against a powerful force with an unmatched advantage over him. Daniella Pineda also stars. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Michael Russo and Michael Narducci (#112).
At this point, to have whatever crime or disloyal act they committed still resonate decades later, it’d have to be something so unimaginably awful. Plus, the episode’s title scares a bit. It just happens to be the name of an acoustic blues song — filled with mournful strains — by Marc Cohn that celebrates NOLA’s rich history and the city’s resilience during times of loss and hardship. (In Marc’s case it was a a tribute to the live lost during Hurricane Katrina.)
So, what do you reckon Marcel and Rebekah’s secret is, loves? Post your predictions in the comments!
