If you thought the first preview trailer for The Originals Season 2 — shown at San-Diego Comic-Con 2014 — was anything to freak out over, wait until you feast your eyes on the latest edition. Rather than illustrating the show’s upcoming nightmares as a segment from “Storytime with Auntie Bex,” the editors responsible for this chilling promo decided to take another route — one that involves happy little daggers, meet-ups at the cemetery in the dead of night, and grim music the Reaper probably jams to. Oh, and did we mention snakes? Yes, the sinister footage is pretty much a Parselmouth’s dream come true!
The video starts off with an eerie observation from Klaus (Joseph Morgan). “New Orleans is a vicious place,” he warns. “Your enemies are everywhere.” He isn’t far off the mark either! Not only are there more explosions on the horizon, but almost every wolf in the area now boasts a moonlight ring that robs him of his strength come every full moon. So how does Klaus go about settling this score? Through battle, naturally. The scene immediately cuts to the hybrid convening with an army of vamps in a fog-filled graveyard and inviting Marcel back into his good graces — followed by a glimpse of someone slicing through a hissing serpent to cast a spell. Shudder!
And in case that wasn’t enough to send shivers down your spine, we also spy Francesca — one of the dangerous Guerrera werewolves — acting all paranoid and screaming about how Klaus needs to be eliminated before he can exact revenge on her, Cami (Leah Pipes) giving Elijah permission to use a “weapon [located] across the river,” and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) chomping down on all the local witches. “I have a new werewolf temper to go with my new appetite,” she snaps when Elijah tries to talk some sense into her about her insatiable feeding habits.
As for Elijah (Daniel Gillies), aside from trying to keep his two hybrid companions in line, the gent is tasked with another ordeal: taking down Papa Mikaelson! “Father?” he whispers, clearly rattled to see the family’s patriarch back from the dead with a blood-splattered face to boot.
“Hello, son,” Mikael says, looking a tad too amused at Elijah’s utter shock.
Now what are you waiting for, sweethearts? Preview the madness in the trailer below, and be sure to drop us a comment telling us if you think Mikael will succeed in his vile mission to eliminate his “abominations.”
