What do you do when you’re an orphaned hybrid dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil? Moreover, what do you do when the girl you love and trust with your life slept with your (handsome) arch nemesis and happens to be the person responsible for your heart ache? You pull up at seat at the Mystic Grill bar, order a round of shots and drink your sorrows away. At least that’s what Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) does in the first preview clip from The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Episode 13: “Total Eclipse of The Heart.”
The new sneak peek shows Tyler trying to cope with the knowledge that Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) had wild, crazy sex in the Mystic Falls woods. Unlike Klaroline supporters who cheered and popped open champagne bottles when Care Bear and the Original BAMF got freaky against a tree, Tyler is disgusted, enraged, and oh-so-very depressed about the whole ordeal. Ergo, he hits up the local bar and asks his best buddy Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) to pour it up. “Give me whatever will obliterate the memory of Caroline,” he utters.
“I thought you weren’t drinking,” Matt points out in a disapproving tone. Tyler, however, corrects him and says he still plans on tossing back some liquor…just not alone. He then swivels his stool around and spies a beautiful lass sitting all by lonesome — it’s Nadia Petrova (Olga Fonda)! She too is apparently “grieving” since her mother just passed away (what a little actress) and she’s getting buzzed to numb the pain. Matt intervenes and reveals that Nadia is Katherine’s manipulative daughter who kidnapped him and locked him in a safe. “The psycho doesn’t fall far from the tree,” he remarks.
Tyler, however, is willing to let bygones be bygones and tries to make small talk. “You heard her. She’s sorry, her mom’s dead — let’s do shots!” Matt casts a quizzical look at his friend and informs him that it’s his funeral as he proceeds to fill up a couple of shot glasses.
