When the CW announced U.S. premiere dates for The Originals, U.K. fans immediately clamored to know when and if the Vampire Diaries spinoff series was going to make its way to TV sets across the pond. Well, we come bearing wonderful news: it definitely is!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the SyFy channel has picked up the highly anticipated series — which follows Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and his siblings Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) as they attempt to fortify their family bonds and regain control over New Orleans — and it’s slated to air in the U.K. in the fall of 2013! The series also stars Charles Michael Davis as Klaus’s former-protege-turned-enemy Marcel, Daniella Pineda as the edgy witch Sophie, Leah Pipes as normal psychology student Camille, and Danielle Campbell as Marcel’s secret weapon Davina.
“With such an established and successful heritage and U.S. network credentials, The Originals is our biggest acquisition since V in 2010,” Adam Collings, channel director of Syfy U.K. gushed. “Its narrative is edgy and contemporary and has something for fans of The Vampire Diaries and new viewers to the franchise alike.”
So, dearest U.K. viewers: What is your reaction to this news? Are you excited to learn that The Originals is coming to a Syfy channel near you?
